At the beginning of this millennium, Alj. ALIKO DANGOTE was interested in selling some stake in his cement manufacturing business to Lafarge for 4 million dollars. After a lot of discussion, negotiation and dialogue, Lafarge pulled out of the deal last minute. Mr. Dangote made a commited decision to compete and take the major stake in the cement market in the country. It took him two years to achieve his vision. Today, that cement company worth over 18 billion dollars in less than 2 decades. These were Mr. Dangote words few days ago in a panel discussion in Singapore.
Here are few lessons we can all learn.
1. Sometimes, some doors are closed because something bigger and grander is coming from another open door.
2.Disappointment is always a blessing depending on our attitude.
3. When there is a WILL there is a way.
4. Never underestimate a man than think big and believe in himself.
5. Let your failures be your chief motivator not holding you back.
